The purpose of this fund is to support teaching excellence within the School of Mathematics and Statistics. An amount of $2000 will be granted every two (2) years to a selected contract instructor who is member with seniority (in CUPE 4600, Unit 2) and has taught at least 1 course in the past 2 years in the School, in recognition of their educational impact, and to support sustained innovation and learning.
The intent is to provide recipients with funds to enhance, innovate and expand their teaching practice which may include conferences, courses, research, the purchase of specialized materials, equipment or resources.
Nominations will be required and selection will be made by a committee led by the Director of the School of Mathematics and Statistics.
Please note, the award will be paid in the form of reimbursement after the recipient submits their expenses.
This fund is established in 2023 by family, friends and the School in memory of Luc Bourbonnais who greatly impacted the lives of students through his teaching over 15 years at Carleton University.
Selection Criteria
Teaching excellence, which may be demonstrated by any of the following:
- Consistency in teaching excellence over time and across courses
- Commitment to student advising, engagement, and learning
- Innovative teaching and/or assessment practices
Nominations are due Friday, April 28 at midnight, with decisions to be made as soon as possible.
