Jo-Anne LeFevre

The same year Jo-Anne LeFevre earned her PhD in psychology from the University of Alberta, she began her teaching and research career at Carleton University. In 1997, only nine years after she came to Carleton, Jo-Anne established her position as a full professor.

With an extensive publication list as well as speaking and book chapter invitations, Jo-Anne is an acknowledged and accredited expert in mathematical cognition.

Despite her active research roles, Jo-Anne devotes a considerable amount of time and effort to teaching, supervising and mentoring graduate students within the Institute of Cognitive Science. It was this commitment that prompted a nomination by her graduate students, which helped Jo-Anne earn a Capital Educators’ Award in 2004. Later, she won a Carleton Research Achievement Award in 2007 and is recognized as a Chancellor’s Professor at Carleton.
