Professor Martin Geiger joined the Department of Political Science and the Institute of European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University in 2014. In two years, he co-founded the transnational research collaborative Mobility & Politics, and in 2016 was awarded a Capital Educators’ Award, recognizing his excellence in teaching in the Ottawa area.

Martin is also an active member of Carleton’s Migration & Diaspora Studies Initiative, the Borders in Globalization project, the Institute of Political Economy, and other initiatives and networks at Carleton.

Every aspect of Martin’s teaching relates back to research. He brings in influential researchers via Skype to inspire students and uses creative tools like Pinterest and videos to engage those who learn differently. He also bridges student gaps by bringing in bachelor of arts students to graduate courses to give peer-to-peer feedback on master’s degree and PhD student work.
