    Biography

    Dr. Seo is a senior research officer in the Structures, Materials, and Manufacturing Laboratory, Aerospace, National Research Council of Canada (NRC),Dr. Seo received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from Michigan State University in 1998. During his academic training, he participated in collaborative projects with Howmet Corporation, MI, USA to develop investment cast technology of TiAl alloys and optimize their microstructures for gas turbine applications and was honoured at the 2nd International Symposium on Structural Intermetallics (TMS) as the Best Paper Award in 1997. He is managing several major projects on characterization and evaluation of high temperature materials and coatings and repair technology of single crystal Ni-base superalloys and ligh weight TiAl-base alloys with the OEMs and international research organizations. As an Adjunct professor , he has been working and supervising students on development of joining technology and evlauation of mechanical and enviromental properties of beta-gamma alloys as collaborative projects with NRC, Carleton University, Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS), South Korea, and UES, USA. He has authored and co-authored 53 peer reviewed journals, 33 conference proceedings, 52 technical reports, and 82 technical presentations at international and national conferences. He is a chair of Ottawa Valley Chapter of ASM international and worked as a vice chair, treasurer, and program chair of the chapter for more than 10  years.
