Genevieve worked in the private sector for an international management consulting firm for 12 years. She has lived in South Africa, Canada, the USA, several countries in Europe, and has travelled the world extensively. During her undergrad in Belgium, she worked at a community centre for expats and volunteered for their 24hr crisis line. After her Masters, Genevieve switched to the public service where she then worked in 3 levels of government over the next 10 years.
She initially started the PhD program to become a stronger advocate for her autistic children’s rights, and has enjoyed learning about accessibility issues in Canada. Her research interests include:
- Barriers to access education support
- Gaps in post adoption support
- Barriers to access health services for autistic people
- Barriers to access healthcare for trans people
- The intersection of autism and gender diversity
