Visitor Parking
Find visitor parking, check when each area is available, and choose the correct payment page for your location.
Pay for visitor parking
Select the parking area or lot code shown on the sign where you parked. Before paying, confirm your licence plate, location and parking duration. Payments are valid only for the location selected.
All-day visitor parking
Available from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily. Follow the posted signs for any location-specific restrictions.
After 5 p.m. visitor parking
Available after 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on weekends. Follow the posted signs for any location-specific restrictions.
Accessible visitor parking
A valid provincial Accessible Parking Permit must be displayed when using an accessible parking space. Payment is still required.

Before you pay
- Confirm the lot or payment code on the nearest parking sign.
- Enter your licence plate exactly as it appears on the vehicle.
- Check the lot hours, maximum stay and any restrictions before leaving your vehicle.
- Keep your payment confirmation. Parking payments cannot be transferred between locations.
Parking is free from 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. From November 15 to April 15, overnight winter parking restrictions apply between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. No overnight parking is permitted on university roadways or in exterior parking lots during this period. Review the winter parking restrictions before parking overnight. Posted signs at each location take precedence.
Payment options
HotSpot or QR code
Pay using the HotSpot app, or scan the QR code posted at the parking location and pay by credit card without downloading the app. A HotSpot membership is not required, and pay-per-use transactions at Carleton do not carry a convenience fee.
Pay station
Pay stations accept credit/debit cards and are available at P1, P2 (inside Nideyinàn), P5 (in the lot and inside Alumni Hall), P10 (inside Ice House), P16 and P17 (inside Teraanga Commons). Use HotSpot in all other locations.
How to set up the HotSpot app
- Download the HotSpot app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app, select Get Started, and enter your name, email address, password and phone verification code.
- Select Ontario and Ottawa – Carleton University, then select parking as your preference.
- Skip membership enrolment. Add funds to your wallet or attach a credit card.
- Add your vehicle and verify that the licence plate is correct.
- Select the four-digit Carleton lot code shown on the parking sign and start your session.
