Update #4 Student Parking Permits Sold Out

Aug. 26, 2024

All available student parking permits for the fall term are sold out. If you were unable to secure a student parking permit, and you live outside of the Ottawa-Gatineau transit service area, you may apply for a U-Pass waiver  U-Pass Opt-Out Process – U-Pass (carleton.ca).

First priority will be given to those on the waiting list who submit a U-Pass waiver confirmation to Parking Services Contact – Parking Services (carleton.ca). We are constantly assessing capacity and will make more permits available as capacity permits.

Please note that student parking permits for the winter term will go on sale in early December.

Student Parking for Fall/Winter 2024/2025

Parking Services and the Sustainability Carleton team encourage students to explore commuting alternatives such as walking, cycling, public transit, ride sharing, carpooling, or permit sharing.

Only vehicles with valid Carleton University parking permits are permitted to park in designated permit-only parking areas from 0700h to 2230h (7:00am to 10:30pm) Monday through Sunday.  Anyone with a campus parking permit requiring later or overnight parking may only do so in accordance with the After Hours parking options.

Due to the demolition of the P9 parking garage, there will be an impact on parking on campus, including reduced Student Parking Permit availability for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Those students who are granted U-PASS waivers (OPT-OUT LINK) because they do not live within the OC Transpo bus service area will be eligible, with proof of waiver, to apply for a student parking permit for the 2024-2025 academic year. If you are interested in this option, you must apply by the end of day Aug. 9, 2024.

If you require a parking permit, please send a copy of your U-PASS Waiver confirmation letter to parking@carleton.ca requesting either an Annual or Fall Term student parking permit.  Permits will be allocated in P6 or P7 based on availability.

Please Note:  If you do not request an annual permit, you will have to provide a waiver again to request a winter permit.

If you don’t qualify for the U-PASS waiver, you will still have the opportunity to purchase a permit through your parking profile on a first-come, first-served basis when they become available at 9:00am on August 15th, 2024.

Residence Students: You are guaranteed parking and do not need to provide proof of waiver.  You will need to contact Parking Services to obtain a Residence parking permit in the P18 Garage, starting Aug 15th at 9 a.m.

Annual (Sept.- Apr.) 2024-2025 and Fall Only (Sept.-Dec.) 2024 Student parking permits will go on sale to the general student population on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 9 a.m.

Permit Sharing

If two or more employees/students wish to share the cost of one permit, all participant vehicles may be listed on one parking profile. Carpoolers may split the cost of the permit through one payment. Only one listed vehicle may be parked on campus at any given time. Any supplemental vehicle would be required to pay visitor parking rates if parking for more than one listed vehicle was required simultaneously.

For additional information please see Transportation Sustainability Initiatives and/or the Campus Transportation Plan.

We do not require any physical parking permits or visitor parking payment receipts to be displayed. We verify your parking permit/payment by the license plate you have registered on your parking account or have entered into the paystation/HotSpot mobile validation.

Please note that parking fees at 355 Cooper Street (for the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre) are in affect.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your parking permit, contact parking@carleton.ca
