2nd, 3rd, 4th Year Students:

UPDATE: January 2026 – The MAE Advisor, Professor Etele, will continue to provide in person advising on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm-2:00pm. Appointments will continue to be on a first come, first served basis in ME 2184, i.e. no appointment necessary.

Please note that there will be NO advising available on January 13th & 14th.

There will be additional first come first-served advising hours on Friday January 16th from 2-4pm.

To prepare to meet with the Advisor, we strongly recommend that you come prepared with your questions/concerns and that you print and bring your AUDIT and PROGRESSION TREE to review with the Advisor.

During busy periods of the term, such as the weeks leading up to the registration deadlines and the withdrawal deadlines, there may be additional wait times so please take this into consideration when making your academic plans.

Registering in a Graduate Course

Undergraduate students who are considering registration in a graduate course, must complete the following steps below:

Undergraduate students who are considering registration in a graduate course, must complete the following steps below:

  1. Meet/contact the instructor to verify that you possess the required prerequisite knowledge and to secure their approval to be in the course.
  2. Contact maeadvising@carleton.ca to get an email approval from the Undergraduate Academic Advisor.
  3. Submit an override request via Carleton Central (not Engineering Request Form/Scheduler Tool as that is only used for undergrad courses)
  4. Send an email to the MAE Graduate Administrator with supporting documentation/emails from both the Undergraduate Advisor and the instructor.
  5. MAE staff will approve the override request after August 6 if there is room in the course.
  6. Contact EngAcadSupport@carleton.ca to request an audit amendment to have the course count towards the undergraduate degree.
